Analytics

With your permission, Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager, uses cookies and usage data to measure visits, interactions, loading speed, responsiveness and layout stability. How Google uses this data.

Site analytics events exclude your name, email, messages, search text, tool inputs, and file contents.

Tools & saved work

Text and image utilities, QR generation, and screen recording process content in your browser. When signed in, supported inputs, settings, and results save automatically to your account; password and file-upload fields are excluded. While signed out, these tools keep work on your device unless you share it or use a cloud feature.

What can a saved session contain?

• Text, campaign data, settings, and results entered in ordinary fields.
• Image Optimizer and Screen Recorder: file names, settings, and summaries, but no source images or recordings.
• Background Remover: a processed-image preview. QR Generator: content and a preview, excluding Wi-Fi passwords and their QR preview.

Shared input links contain your data. Recipients can read it, and opening a link sends its URL to the host. Keep private information out of these links.

Accounts, uploads & messages

Amazon Cognito handles sign-in; accounts can store your name, email, account ID, saved work, and activity. Cloud features send required inputs or files to their processing service. The application tracker also stores records and attachments.

Contact forms send your name, email, and message through Amazon SES to my inbox. Providers including Vercel and AWS process requests and operational data to run and protect the site.

Contact abuse protection stores hashed request identifiers and counters scheduled to expire after two days, with no message text, email address or raw IP address in these quota records. AWS may take additional time to delete expired records.

Android app

The Android app downloads public catalog content and images. Google Play provides app updates for the Play version; the separate sideload review version can check and download updates from the first-party update feed. The app stores settings, saved project bookmarks, native game progress, and downloaded content in app storage. Native text, QR code, and image tools process your inputs on your device. Image tools read only the photo you select and save the result to a location you choose. Background Remover uses Google Play services to download an ML Kit model when needed; the selected photo is processed on your device. Google says ML Kit collects device and app information, identifiers, performance measurements, and feature events or errors for diagnostics and usage analytics.

The native Screen Recorder asks for Android screen capture approval each time you start it. Microphone audio is optional and requires separate permission; device audio is not recorded. Recordings remain in the app until you delete them or clear the app's storage. Saving or sharing a recording sends a copy to the location or app you choose. The app does not automatically upload native recordings.

Project pages, some games, and demos can load the website inside the app. The Google Play version offers its native tools without sign-in and does not launch website tools account features. The separate sideload review version can open website tools in your browser, where optional account features remain available. Website pages follow the website practices described here, including cookie choices, optional analytics, and cloud features; account session storage applies only when you use website account features. Some native AI demo alternatives also contact the website's inference services and send the text, drawing, or generation settings needed for a requested result; some fetch examples when opened. Website data and native game progress are stored separately.

In the app, you can clear cached images and remove saved project bookmarks. Delete native recordings in Screen Recorder. Android's app storage controls remove remaining app data, including native game progress and settings; uninstalling the app also removes its app storage. Files you exported, data saved in a browser, and website account records must be removed separately. For data requests, email daniel@danielshort.me.

Request account and data deletion

You can request deletion without signing in or opening the Android app. Email daniel@danielshort.me with the subject Delete my Daniel Short Tools account. Send it from the email address used for your website Tools account if possible. If you no longer have access to that address, include it in your message and ask for another way to verify ownership.

Say whether you want full account closure or deletion of specific data only. For full closure, request deletion of your Amazon Cognito login and all associated saved tool sessions, activity, cloud-tool records, and attachments. Mention any contact messages you also want reviewed. I will verify account ownership, handle the request, and reply with the outcome and any data that must be retained. This is a request by email, not automatic deletion.

If you can sign in, Account → Privacy & data → Delete saved account data deletes saved tool sessions and activity. That control does not close your Amazon Cognito login or remove separate cloud-tool records, attachments, or contact emails. Use the email request above for full account closure.

Storage & deletion

Clear this site's browser data to remove local preferences, sign-in state, tool settings, and game progress. Saved-work retention varies by service; download anything you need to keep.

Signed-out tool text, settings, and contact drafts stay in this tab's session storage for recovery after navigation or refresh, expiring after two hours of inactivity. Clearing or discarding the draft removes it; confirmed delivery clears a contact draft. Passwords, files, recordings and binary previews are excluded. Unsynced account drafts use separate local storage until synced or deleted.

Open Account and select Continue to reopen saved work. Under Privacy & data, Delete saved account data removes your saved tool sessions and activity, but not your Cognito login, contact emails, or separate cloud-tool records. For full closure, follow the account deletion request steps.

Chatbot & short links

The site chatbot and Travel Assistant send your question and conversation context to AWS for an answer. Questions, answers, conversation identifiers, the referring site, country, page context and processing details are logged in AWS for troubleshooting and abuse prevention. Chat logs use a configurable retention period, with a 30-day default; AWS may take additional time to remove expired records. Avoid sending private or sensitive information.

Opening a short link records the link, time, link or QR channel, destination without query parameters, referring site and country. Click history and aggregate totals are retained until the site owner removes them; older records may also contain browser details and a region, city or time zone. These operational records are separate from optional Google Analytics.

Clearing a conversation, deleting browser data or turning off optional cookies does not remove these server records. Email daniel@danielshort.me for a data request. Provider request logs and protected backups can have separate retention periods.

Your choices

Change optional cookies here or through Cookie settings. Do Not Track disables analytics and advertising; Global Privacy Control disables advertising. Cookie choices do not delete saved data or stop actions you request.
